Ferrari 458 Italia spotted again on the road

Here is the new Ferrari 458 Italia spotted somewhere on the road, probably in Italy. Yes, these cellphone pics are a little low-res, but certainly we can, detective-like, spot some news here somewhere?

That landscape around the highway does indeed match the flatlands of the Padania, the area around the Po river of Italy. Definitely in the same neighborhood as Ferrari's Maranello headquarters in the Italian province of Emilia-Romagna. Okay, so we can guess that Ferrari is still keeping the 458 close to home.

What else?

Despite its initial media release, the 458 is masking itself with a convenient disguise. Hiding its design lines behind the black color of one model and the blushing yellow paint job of the other, each with white stripes and spots to obscure its features. Still, we can get a pretty good idea of what it will look like.

It will look like a Ferrari.

Jaguar XJ Prototype Spied Disguised as BMW

With the redesigned 2010 XJ debut scheduled for July 9, Jaguar has started to peel away the layers of camouflage from their prototypes.

This particular mule trades the thick plastic body armor of the recent XJ seen testing of Germany's Nürburgring for a sneaky BMW appearance complete with a twin kidney grille and the brand's trademark psychedelic camouflage. Despite the attempted trickery, this is the first time we can get a decent glimpse of the upcoming luxury saloon.

As expected, the new XJ borrows much of its exterior styling from the company's highly regarded XF sedan. While many details are still hidden by the camouflage, it's clear the redesigned XJ features a massive grille, a sleek four-door coupe appearance, and a huge C-pillar.

Engine options will include Jaguar's new supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 510 bhp (380kW) and 625 Nm of torque, the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 diesel which is rated at 271 bhp (202kW) and 600 Nm of torque, as well as the naturally aspirated version of the 5.0-liter V8.

Jaguar will start accepting orders for the new XJ in July with the first deliveries scheduled to begin early next year.

Maserati GranTurismo Spyder Spied

Our spy photographers have managed to catch Maserati's upcoming 2010 GranTurismo Spyder undergoing testing before a possible unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Although this particular mule is heavily camouflaged, it's clear that the Spyder will adopt the same styling as Maserati's highly regarded coupe. What the camouflage is hiding is another matter. Until recently it was widely expected that the GranTurismo Spyder would sport a folding metal roof like the Ferrari California, but reports have surfaced indicating that the Spyder will instead stick with a traditional canvass roof in order to reduce weight.

Like the coupe, the 2010 GranTurismo Spyder will offer potential owners a choice of a 4.2-liter V8 with 405 hp or a 4.7-liter V8 with 433 hp.

Look for the new Maserati drop top to go on sale in March with a base price somewhere in the neighborhood of $130,000 USD.

Pagani Zonda R Official Commercial Trailer Released

"The Zonda has set more than one record at the race track. It raised the bar for road supercars. Passion, ingenuity, knowledge and craftsmanship created the parts to form an effective and focused package. What more could you want?"

These are the enticing words appearing at the beginning of this beautifully-shot video clip. In the clip is the new Pagani Zonda R. It does not move or even start up. This is something of a commercial trailer for the super track car which was commissioned to Supercarmovies.com by Pagani.

Pagani it may be argued, does not need advertising to sell the Zonda R or any other car for that matter. However we cannot pass up a chance to view another video where the car is featured, even if it is just standing still.

At some point during the clip they show some of the components that make up the R and then progress to other shots demonstrating these parts being screwed together by hand to form a complete package. When it's done you can't help but admire the polished finished product.

To recap some of the technical bits; the engine is a 6.0-litre V12 with 552kW (750hp) and peak torque of 710Nm. It comes with a 6-speed sequential gearbox and slick tyres.

First Pictures: Bentley set to Unveil Facelifted GTC & GTC Speed

The Bentley Continental GTC has gotten a facelift and a new sibling with a little more pepper under the hood.

The Continental GTC now also comes as a GTC Speed with the W12 upgraded to 600 hp from the standard GTC's 552. The new engine numbers now make this cabriolet able to max out at 200 mph (324 km/h), with the roof on, of course. With the roof down you lose about 5 mph - a real tragedy.

The Speed does the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 4.5 seconds, about 0.3 seconds faster than that slow poke, lumbering colossus, the regular, run-of-the-mill, discount, dollar store GTC.

The Speed also gets a lowered suspension of about 10 mm, which is fancy, automotive engineer parlance for 1 centimeter. The ESP system adds a Dynamic mode for better cornering too.

The standard GTC also gets a new ESP mode called Sport Traction, in case you want to enter it in a WRC rally. Hey, wouldn't it be something to take one of these half-million dollar Bentleys through a few stages of the Wales Rallye? Just a thought.

Optics get a do-over too, just barely. The GTC has a new front bumper, grill and larger air intakes. The Speed variant has larger exhaust pipes and gets 20-inch wheels. On the inside, a new steering wheel and Mulliner-spec quilted leather upholstery.

Jaguar has all but confirmed speculation that a new XJ

Jaguar has all but confirmed speculation that a new XJ is due to go into market as early as June 2009 according to statements by Jaguar executives. Jaguar MD Mike O'Driscoll said of the carthat it 'takes, we believe, the luxury saloon to new heights in terms of its technical enhancements'. That was during an event previewing the brand's upcoming new engines.

The vehicle will be a radical design departure for the XJ label, promising to look more like a four-door coupe than a big sedan. Currently Jaguar's superstar car is the XF and Chief Designer Ian Callum had intended for it to take on coupe-like looks even as a four-door sedan. This was achieved partly by getting the rear roofline to slope towards the back more like an XK than a saloon. Similar-looking cars include the Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide and the Mercedes-Benz CLS. With the XJ that philosophy will be taken to the next level.

Power sources for the new car will include Jaguar's new 3.0 V6 turbo diesels and petrol V8s. While a supercharged petrol V8 will power the high performance XJ-R, no plans have been made for a diesel V8.

With the XJ the company hopes to enhance its rising position in the world of luxury cars in a segment currently dominated by the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. However, Jaguar is not very interested in going high-volume on its cars, adopting a ‘quality over quantity' attitude instead.

Rumors: New Lotus Esprit postponed until 2011

It's been about 4 years since Lotus discontinued the Esprit V8 and a new Esprit has been a long time coming. It will now be a littler longer time in coming.

It appears Lotus has delayed the debut of the new Esprit, which was due for launch this year, until 2011.

Speculation is that Lotus is working on a hybrid version of the Esprit, which has been said will be powered by BMW's 4.4 liter V8. The 4.4 liter, bi-turbo V8 with 400 hp is already employed in the BMW X6. The Esprit may be taking that engine to about 500 hp. Possibly, also as part of a hybrid marriage with an electric motor.

Details are few on the enviro-friendly intentions of Lotus for the new Esprit. But Lotus has been laying the ground work lately for its push into new propulsion technologies. It recently announced development of an electric Lotus with extended range capabilities through a petrol-powered generator. It is also developing a hybrid drivetrain for motorsport in a partnership with Honda based on the Civic hybrid technology.

The Lotus Esprit is meant to compete with models such as the Ferrari 430 and the Lamborghini Gallardo. Having a hybrid supercar on the market would give it a competitive edge, but it must get the new Esprit to market first.

Jaguar XF-R Revealed

Official pictures and details of the new 2010 Jaguar XF-R have finally emerged. The executive British cat was designed to take on cars like the Audi RS6, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63/ CLS 63 AMG.

In order to play at this level Jaguar has provided a potent engine for the XF-R in the form of a 5.0-litre V8 with a whirling supercharger plugged into it plus an uprated 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine produces 510hp (380kW) and 625Nm. In comparison the previous generation S Type R, the XF-R's spiritual predecessor, made 399hp (298kW) from its 4.2-litre supercharged motor. For this power the XF-R gives back a 0 - 60mph time of 4.7 seconds. Jaguar also did a 0 - 100km/h (62 mph) run which came back as 4.9 seconds on the clock. A combined fuel economy of 12.5l/100km (18.8mpg US) is stated by Jaguar.

In terms of specification Jaguar did not skimp on features for their new top-of-the-range XF. Wheels are 20-inch alloys coupled with larger ventilated disc brakes. A new body kit featuring wider side skirts and a bonnet with louvers gives the car a more purposeful stance even when standing still. There's a new front end with a shiny upper mesh grille and a black lower mesh grille. The XF-R also has a new rear spoiler and four round tailpipes. The "R" moniker placed on the four brake calipers as well as the rear end makes it clear where this car stands in the Jaguar hierarchy.

Interior comes with soft grain leather as standard, adjustable sports seats and a dark chequered aluminium trim on the dash. The "R" is also seen just above the glove box and at the bottom of the steering wheel. The XF-R will come with a choice of eight exterior colours including one called Salsa.

More of the Jaguar XF-R will be on display at the North American International Motor Show in Detroit.

BMW testing the next generation 3 Series platform

Three years before the official launch and BMW has already started testing the next generation 2012 BMW 3 Series. The F35 platform will be quite different from the current E9x models and the first visual change that we noticed is the increased wheelbase along with a wider body.

As we learned from sources close to BMW, we are still a year away from the time the first 2012 3 Series prototypes will hit the road for testing and the final design will be chosen this spring.

An interesting fact pointed out by our friend at BMW is that the Progressice Activity Coupe based on the next 3er platform will be launched prior to the new 3 Series. This is similar to the Progressive Activity Sedan coming out before the 2010 BMW 5 Series. The PAC will be introduced when the Progressive Activity Sedan is officially announced.

Audi A7 Sportback Concept Images Leaked

Audi's Sportback concept will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show which begins in less than a day. These are the first leaked images of the car. The Sportback concept represents the future Audi A7, a four-door 2+2 coupe said to be larger in size than the current A6. As much as it is a concept, Audi's recent design philosophies are all over the Sportback including those LED lights and the smiley grille, though this time it's upside down.

The vehicle's roofline and smaller rear window shows a fastback blueprint which could mean the A7 is a full-on hatch. It will be built on Audi's new modular longitudinal build kit (LBK). This modular setup can be adjusted for length, width and height to suit whatever application it's needed for. Other future large Audis are expected to use the same chassis setup.

The A7 will mark Audi's entry into the four-door Grand Tourer market where at the moment the Mercedes-Benz CLS reigns supreme and Porsche's new Panamera has also entered. Other players like the Aston Martin Rapide and BMW CS concept-based car will soon join the segment. The production car should be seen on many roads by the last quarter of 2009.

VW Concept Blue Sports Breaks Cover

Volkswagen's Concept Blue Sports premieres in Detroit as a study in combining great fuel economy with a sporty drive and looks. The roadster measures some four metres in length but weighs less than 1200kg. VW has put a turbo diesel engine in it and that tips the performance scales even more in its favour.

The engine is a 2.0-litre TDI that makes 180hp (134kW) from 4,200rpm and a hefty torque of 350Nm made from just 1,750rpm. Said to be capable of a 0 - 100km/h time of 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 226km/h (140mph), the Blue Sports concept emits just 113g/km in harmful C02 gasses. It averages 4.3 litres per 100km (55mpg US/ 66mpg UK) in fuel consumption.

Not to be classified as a lightweight with no proper credentials, the car runs on massive 235/35ZR19 tyres front and 245/35ZR19 rear. The gearbox is VW's trusted quick-shifting DSG with 6 forward gears and one reverse.

Technologies adopted are bi-xenon LED headlights outside, a touchscreen that controls infotainment sources inside and an easy-to-use top that can be removed in seconds. Could the Concept Blue Sports be pointing towards a future Scirocco cabriolet? Time will tell.

2010 BMW 5 Series Rendering

The image below gives us an approximate look of what the next generation 2010 BMW 5 Series front-end might look like.

All the credit for this image goes to VroomVroom and AndyValencia, members if Germancarzone. With the help and hints from people close to BMW and who have seen the final design, the rendering is said to be about 95% accurate, with one exception: the BMW roundel or logo, will be going to be placed on the front bumper rather than the hood.

What we learned recently is that the mirrors and the handles on the F10 5-Series are the same that on the F01.

BMW reconfirms 3 Series Crossover

No breaking news here, but according to Autocar UK, BMW’s CEO Norbert Reithofer has confirmed the future launch of a smaller, more affordable luxury crossover, internally named V3.

The PAC, Progressive Activity Coupe or V3, as it is known internally, is expected to based on Long Wheel Base 3 Series. The Progressive Activity Coupe has a higher roof when compared to the existing 3 Series Wagon and of course, a longer wheelbase as well. According to Autocar, it will fill a slot between the 3 Series Touring and the BMW X3, a statement that might not be entirely true, since the next generation X3 will grow in size and the X1 will be taking its place.

The idea of a PAC vehicle is that the little less wealthy 3er customers might find 5 Series too expensive, X3 too big, so they might find the V3 PAC being the right choice.

As Autocar mentioned as well, we learned a while back that the 3-series crossover will come with rear-wheel drive as standard, but four-wheel drive will be offered as an option.

The engines are likely to be the ones from the BMW 3-series models, with a future line-up of turbocharged four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, basically expect all the “goodies” from the 3 Series to make it into the PAC as well.

Audi A8 : Next Generation

Under the new sheet metal will be an extended version of the modular platform used in the A4, but expect to see more exotic materials such as aluminum and magnesium employed to help save further weight and improve dynamics. The base model will remain FWD but AWD variants will feature the latest quattro torque vectoring SportDifferential, which distributes drive individually between each axle and between the rear wheels for improved traction and stability. There will also be electronic control for the air-suspension, steering, pedal response and transmission systems.

The new engine lineup will feature a 250hp (186kW) 3.0L V6 TDI, a 290hp (216kW) 3.0L V6 FSI, a 340hp (253kW) 4.2L V8 TDI, a 372hp (277kW) 4.2L V8 FSI and finally a 620hp (462kW) 5.0L V10 FSI reserved for the S8. Audi is yet to decide on whether it will launch a 12-cylinder model, however there are plans for a new mild-hybrid version. There will also be more supercharged units as well as increased application of Audi’s latest valve-lift system. The 6.0L W12 engine is reportedly being phased out due to its high costs and emissions.

First BMW M7 Spy Photos?

Though not officially so, BMW has on occasion admitted to cooking up a hotter version of the new 7 Series. Could these spy pictures be representing that top of the range BMW called the M7? The pictures landed on the laps of our friends at Motortips after being sent to them by a German reader named Francisco.

Francisco had been at his local supermarket about 100km west of Munich when he spotted a different-looking black BMW parked outside. Thinking it was a 2011 5 Series he went for a closer look. Upon realising the vehicle was a 7 Series he noticed other features that set it aside from normal 7ers. For instance, the carhad big black wheels with low profile tires and a dual exhaust system with trapezoidal tips, which is different from other models in the 7 Series lineup. Only M cars are fitted with double tailpipes at BMW.

Was it a special owner-tuned version perhaps? That would have made sense had the badges not been deliberately covered to protect the car's true identity. Apart from the badges there is no other disguise visible enough for the eye to see, pointing to an imminent public reveal.

It's the first time that BMW is producing an M-badged 7 Series after many years of speculation. The BMW M7 will go head to head with the Mercedes-Benz S63 / S65 AMG and the upcoming supercharged Jaguar XJR. It should produce in excess of 600hp (447kW).

Audi S1 - details emerge

Audi is launching a high-performance S1 variant of its A1 mini car around 2011. Based on the Metroproject concept of 2007, the A1 will compete with the MINI and Alfa Romeo MiTo at the bottom end of the luxury car market. For Audi, this pocket rocket S1 competes against the 211hp Cooper S JCW and Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA, powerful little cars with chassis built especially for handling.

Exterior kit is as important as engine performance in this segment and so Audi will spare very little cost with things like 19-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, deep air intakes, a roof-mounted spoiler and some chrome finishing.

To assist the quattro 4WD system in sticking those big tyres onto the ground, a 1.4-litre TSI engine should do the trick quite nicely. That's the same engine found in the SEAT Ibiza Cupra and upcoming VW POLO GTIas well. For those two it makes 178hp/ 133kW but the S1 will benefit from upgrades and an ECU tweak to give it over 200hp.

Mated to this powerplant is the new S Tronic twin-clutch gearbox which should push the car from 0 - 60 mph in about 6 seconds while returning a fuel economy index of 35 mpg.

The 2011 Audi S1 is expected to come in at £25,000 while the cheapest model in the A1 range may cost from around £13,000 when the base cars are launched in 2010.

Mercedes E-Class sedan brochure scans leaked

Early in December 2008 the very first official pictures of the new 2010 E-Class were leaked. And now less than a month later a scanned chunk of the marketing brochure with some detailed technical information and pictures has also been leaked.

Contained in the German-language brochure are very intimate details of the 2010 E-Class. The car is 4.868 metres long and has a wheelbase of 2.87 metres. It comes with a range of engines with 4 and 6 cylinder models in both petrol and turbo diesel form. With the exception of the E350 4Matic models and E350 BlueTEC, all other models are BlueEfficiency equipped. Powerplants include the E200 CGI with 135kW (184hp) and 270Nm, E250 CGI with 150kW (204hp)and 310Nm, E350 CGI making 215kW (292hp)and 365Nm, and the 285kW (388hp) E500 producing 530Nm.

Diesels are pretty strong too. The E200 CDI is good for 100kW (136hp) and 360Nm, from the same engine its E220 sibling does 125kW (170hp) and 400Nm. At the top end we find an E250 CDI with 150kW (204hp) and 500Nm plus a 3.0-litre E350 CDI with BlueEfficiency makes a heady 170kW (231hp) and 540Nm of torque.

Pretty much all the styling details of the E-Class can be seen; from front to the sides to the rear. The standard car is defined by its 9-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels and the chrome grille. Some styling packages like the ELEGANCE and AMG Sports Package are available to assist buyers when individualizing the look of their cars.

The ELEGANCE Package offers features like the liberal use of chrome for styling while AVANTGARDE models are sportier and more agile in their appearance. The differences up front are very clear when the two models stand side by side. ELEGANCE models feature double foglights on each side and more chrome on the grille while AVANTGARDE models have different shaped LED foglights below the bi-xenon lights and one less chrome rib on the grille. Wheels are 17-inch alloys.

Differences extend to the interior where high quality materials are evident for both packages but ELEGANCE uses more contrast of leather with wooden materials whereas AVANTGARDE cars are fitted with aluminium to emphasize their sportier feel. An EXCLUSIVE package is also available featuring luxury materials like Nappa leather upholstery and Alcantara. The AMG Sports package comes with sports seats, a contrasting interior colour scheme and an expression of dynamic power.

Although no details of the actual E-Class AMG are in these leaked brochure scans, this particular package gives a good idea of what it might look like.

2010 Mercedes E Class Coupe

New spy shots of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé have popped up. Photographed in Germany, anticipation is boiling over for Stuttgart's replacement line for the CLK.

Looking rather dynamic in the metallic dark grey paint with silver lined windows and five-point alloys, one can't help but wonder if this car was meant to be photographed before its debut. A very sleek, but slightly covered black beauty was seen as well. Clearly, the car has taken some inspiration from the FASCINATION concept shown at Paris in 2008. Engine options begin with the 1.8 liter turbocharged petrol, and stops with the mammoth AMG 500 horsepower machine.

On sale this year, the Mercedes E-Class Coupé will likely debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The E-Class four-door sedan is coming to the NAIAS in Detroit, and the convertible should see daylight later in the year.

2011 BMW 1-Series

Following a mid-cycle facelift performed in 2007, the next generation BMW 1-Series is due to arrive in 2011. Prototype mules using the current 1-Series body (E87) have already been spotted testing around Germany and as a result artist renderings are starting to fill the speculative void.

Despite the early stage of testing, some details have been revealed. According to AutoBild, who spoke to BMW's product development chief, Klaus Draeger, BMW is keeping to the recent philosophy of fast developing new segments. Although a decision has not been made yet, the new 1-Series lineup may feature a type of elongated shooting-brake two-door wagon/ hatch variant. Such a variant, which can accommodate adult size rear passengers unlike the current 1-Series, would allow BMW to offer it to the US market.

The existing BMW and PSA Group alliance which already produces engines for MINI would build engines ranging from 1.4 liters to 3.0 liters for the 1-Series. Turbos are most certainly on the list, but an M version of the 1-Series is out of the question again.

2011 Mercedes CLS Prototype Caught

Just a few days ago spy pictures of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS appeared. Not at the best angles admittedly, so today is payback. These photographs show almost every angle of the car, even under heavy camo. The roof is completely bare for all to see and so are the squashed rectangular tailpipes.

Some reports have suggested the four-door coupe CLS will be based on an S-Class platform but it will actually be based on the E-Class. In keeping with its earth eco responsibilities, Mercedes will for the first time, offer a BlueHybrid version of its sporting 2+2 seater using the same engine as the S400 BlueHybrid. Additionally a few engines found in the E-Class should make their way into the CLS engine bay too, meaning petrol and diesel as well as a 400kW / 536hp-plus AMG.

The CLS practically invented its segment when it came into the market in 2004. It gave people with families of about three or four a spacious car with four doors plus the driving characteristics of a two-door sports coupe.

Mercedes E-Class wagon spied

As a follow-up to the official photos of the 2010 Mercedes E-Class sedan that leaked a just over a week ago, the E-Class wagon has been spotted in testing with minimal camouflage. The E-Class' new lines evolve nicely onto the cargo-carrying body, which features a rising body line and a long rear overhang to ensure ample room behind the rear seats. A dual exhaust and smoothly integrated roof rails are also visible in these photos. The taillight shape seems to follow that of the redesigned headlights.

As is generally the case, the E-Class wagon is expected to share powertrains with the sedan series, from the fuel-efficient CDI models to a high-powered AMG edition. U.S. buyers can expect a BlueTec-equipped wagon as well. There's been no word yet as to whether the E-Class wagon will debut at Geneva with the sedan and coupe, or if Mercedes will save it for later.

2010 Mercedes R-Class Facelift

In case you have not seen heavily padded spy photos of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz R-Class severe facelift, we have some fresh ones for you. The large Mercedes luxury sport touring wagon, which is really closer in size to an MPV, had worse sales than Mercedes expected, causing them to cut prices, add another rear seat and offer 4Matic all-wheel-drive system last year.

Even with that pricing adjustment, the R-Class sold 75% fewer vehicles than the 50,000 Mercedes-Benz had expected.

But Mercedes-Benz is not ready to give up on the R-Class, with hopes that the six-seater will carve out its own corner of the market. Previous efforts, like added choice in engine/transmission layout, making the AMG exterior standard, and slashing prices, were to no avail.

Now the company is stepping up efforts by trying again to beautify the giant. We expect the front, hidden completely under padding in these photos, to be nip/tucked into something that does not look so dull. Perhaps they will square off the front a bit more, as the current version has a front end reminiscent of a late-90s Chrysler. Only minor changes are expected at the rear, with new tail lights, tail pipes, and a nicer bumper on its way.

Engine choices were never a problem with this van/wagon (vagon?). The R-Class choices include two 3.0-liter V6 diesels, which get 190 hp and 272 hp. Also available are a 3.5-liter V6 with 272 horses, and a 5.0-liter V8, which cranks out 306 hp. The latter pulls the wagon from 0-100 km/h in just 7.0 seconds. The R63 AMG, which had a 6.2-liter V8 rated at 503 hp, got the axe some time ago.

The Mercedes CLS-rivalling Audi A7 coupé has finally broken cover – and with its curving roofline and sleek silhouette, it promises to be one of the most dramatically styled models in its class.

These exclusive images have been developed from the latest on-the-road spy shots of the car, which is currently being road tested in locations in both Europe and the US.

They show the newcomer mimics the basic proportions of its Mercedes rival, with the cockpit space stretching the length of the car and tailing off towards the rear. However, the Audi looks a lot more imposing and aggressive.

Renderings BMW PAS

The closer we get to the official revealing date, the more spy photos and renderings of the BMW Progressive Activity we will see. The folks at Leftlanenews decided to test their artist skills and based on the information we all have so far, they managed to draw a possible design of the BMW PAS.

In the same time, the German based magazine, Autozeitung, famous for their computer generated images, have put together their own version of the BMW Progressive Activity model.

Two different approaches, while the Leftlanenews artist uses the 2009 BMW 7 Series as the base for the PAS concept, Autozeitung still is importing design elements from the now cancelled CS Concept.

2010 BMW 5 Series - New Information

The fellows at MotorTrend have just posted an article in which they talk about the future 2010 BMW 5 Series. They seem to have received some new information regarding the chassis and the engine.

So, as we mentioned in the past also, the new generation 2010 BMW 5 Series, codenamed F10, will have a new line-up of engines. If the award-winning 3.0 liter twin-turbo engine will be part of the 5er lineup - the upgraded version with 326hp - there will be some other new engines powering the new 5 series. A twin-turbo clean diesel will be one of them, along with a diesel hybrid engine. We should also expect a full hybrid model as the new BMW 7 Series Hybrid.

The BMW M5 will downgrade their engine, from a V10 to a V8 turbo, something that it was reported recently by us as well.

BMW X3 spyed

In less than two years, the next generation BMW will present its second generation X3. The new BMW X3 will grow in size and it will move up in its class to make room for the X1 urban vehicle.

With new competitors like the Mercedes-Benz GLK and Audi Q5, BMW is looking to revitalize the current X3 by designing a more dynamic performance oriented activity vehicle with a sleeker design and more appealing to the bimmer fans.

A test mule was spotted in Munich, but compared to the previous spy shots, the new X3 is spotted together with the current X3. Despite the funky camouflage, you can still see the new X3 as growing in size with a roof line slightly lower than the current model. As we mentioned before, the X3 will follow the X5’s steps by getting more round corners and a sportier look. A more dynamic performance oriented activity vehicle is BMW’s goal for this second generation X3.

X6M : new spy shot

The 2010 BMW X6 M seems to be in the final testing stages and it has been spotted once again near the BMW Plant in Spartanburg, SC. Our friend Palbay was there once again snapping photos of this controversial BMW //M model.

The X6 M has never been confirmed by BMW and all the hints that we received over the last months were about “the new performance twins”. The BMW X6 M rumors have been received with skepticism by the bimmer fans, majority of them disagreeing with BMW’s intention of adding more M performance models to the SAV/SAC market. The BMW X5 M is another model that was spotted several times near Spartanburg, but it is expected to make its debut after the X6 M.

Audi A3 : rendered next generation

We found some interesting looking photoshop of the next-generation Audi A3 which is awaited for 2011. Street word has it that it will come with two new engines: a 1.2TFSI and a 1.6TDI.

Note some differences in this design such as TT-style angular headlamps and a an evolving Audi grille. We don't know how accurate this could be, but it's from AutoZeitung and they definitely have strong contacts at Audi AG.

Audi A7 concept to debut in Detroit

Audi has decided to go gangbusters at the Detroit Auto Show, with the car company planning to debut the Audi A7 concept on their stage there. This comes in addition to the official release of the 2010 Audi R8 V10, which will also premiere in the Motor City.

So far, all we've seen of the A7 concept are official sketches (seen above) distributed by the German automaker. The new A7, believed to be available from 2009 as a 2010 model, will have the choice of a 204 horsepower 2.8 liter engine, a supercharged 300 hp 3.0, and a 4.2-liter V8 pumping out nearly 400 hp. Audi has previously announced an A7 RS with a 600 hp twin-turbo 5.2 liter V10.

This last engine being more powerful than the V10 expected to be on the new 2010 R8.

Early talk has brought rumors of three different transmission systems. A six-speed manual, dual-clutch seven-speed DSG, and seven-speed automatic are expected to be offered.

Audi may be planning on marketing this car as the new flagship model for the franchise. It should get better weight distribution, and a new suspension system to smoothen out the bumps. There is also speculation of a hybrid version.

The Audi A7 concept is believed to have the same flowing lines as the production model will get. A four-door sedan, this car is one of the most anticipated vehicles so far announced for Detroit.

Audi R6 : rendered

In addition to the R3 there is a rumor about the R6 (2013), that would be positioned between the R3 and R8. Even though Audi has not confirmed this, it makes lot of sense. To be honest R6 makes more sense than R3. As R3 would compete with the TT, then R6 would be Audi’s alternative to Cayman.

2010 BMW Z4 Officially Unleashed with Video

BMW has provided automotive fans with an early Christmas present with the release of the first official details and images of the all-new 2010 BMW Z4 Roadster. Despite bleak economic times, BMW will be looking to continue the long term success of its roadster series. At launch the Z4 will be offered with three different engine options.

The top of the line Z4 sDrive35i features the award winning 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine that has already been successfully deployed in the 135i and 335i. It pumps out 306hp (228Kw) and 400Nm of torque (295lb-ft) and enables the roadster to launch from 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds. For those consumers looking to take the optional Double Clutch Transmission system, an extra 0.1 seconds is wiped off this acceleration figure.The entry level Z4 sDrive23i gets a I6 powerplant with a displacement of 2,497cc, power output lies at 204hp (152 kW) and 250Nm(184lb-ft) of torque. The final engine option is the sDrive30i with a 258hp(192 kW) 3-liter engine with 210Nm(228lb-ft) of torque. All three powerplants abide by the strict EU5 emissions standard taking the BMW roadster into the next decade with much to be excited about.

The new 2010 model features a retractable hard-top, the first time we have seen this in a BMW Z series model. Raised or lowered in 20 seconds, the hard-top weighs much more than the soft-top version offered in previous model series which is sure to hinder the performance. To counter this effect, the Bavarian automaker has introduced a host of new technologies, starting with the Adaptive M Suspension system. The ride height can be raised or lowered by up to 10mm with a choice of three different configurations. Additionally, the driving experience is enhanced with the Drive Dynamic Control function (another first for the Z series) which dynamically alters both the steering and throttle responses.

Mercedes S-Class facelift spy photos plus AMG version

Some more crystal clear spy shots of the Mercedes S-Class facelift have surfaced. This time, they also include the AMG version, and hybrid as well.

Ambushed by the spies as the drivers' settled in for a bite to eat, we see some small updates. For example, take a look at the new graphic on the front lamps, now with LED daytime lights built in. LEDs also show up in the rear.

Around the frame, the bumpers get a rebuilt, with foglights integrated in. The prototypes were all camouflaged up inside, so we anticipate some sort of update there as well, like the SPLITVIEW display screen and COMAND infotainment system with 8-inch display. The hybrid is a S400 Bluehybrid, but that is not the only green advance. The other versions will also get better fuel economy.

Set for release in the middle of next year, the Mercedes S-Class will premiere as a 2010 model.

Mercedes SLC Gullwing Winter Testing Spy Video

A little over a week ago we showed off some spy photos of the Mercedes SLC Gullwing. We just got some video in today, and it is starting to make us antsy. Antsy because we want to see the thing completely uncovered!
The Gullwing is being shown outside Arjeplog, Sweden, where temperatures are between -3° C and -16° C, or as low as 3.2° F. Numbers like that dredge up memories of waiting for the school bus in January in Chicago. Unfortunately, my family never took me to school in one of these.
All we know for sure is that the Gullwing should debut in 2010 with anywhere from 550 to 600 horsepower, twin-turbo V8. The engine should pump out about 445 ft-lb of torque with a 7-tronic automatic transmission.

Since the separation with McLaren, Mercedes is going the Gullwing on their own. Although the car will be made exclusively by AMG, McLaren is going to work on their own version as well.

Second Generation 2011 Mercedes CLS

We present you with the first spy pictures of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS. Not the facelift, but the brand new next-generation model. Although few details can be seen, the CLS seems to adopt the overall styling of the S-Class and CL-Class, while the Ocean Drive Concept makes a rear appearance in the rear bumper and integrated dual exhaust tips.
The CLS was first produced in 2004 and was touted as the world's first four-door coupe. Featuring fastback features as well as a 2+2 seating arrangement, Merc wanted to ensure the best of both worlds with the CLS; sporty coupe looks and performance, coupled with the practicality of a sedan.
Power will be sourced from the usual assortment of V6, V8 petrol and diesels engines plus the possibility of a hybrid variant. For the range-topping AMG model a 400kW+/ 530bhp engine shared with the next 2010 E-Class is expected.

Soon other players will introduce rivals to the CLS such as the future Audi A7. Porsche has already revealed the Panamera for the segment and the Aston Martin Rapide plays along the same lines.

Audi A5/S5 Cabriolet Revealed

Inevitably Audi has released first information on the new Audi A5 Cabriolet, a bare-breasted two-door German with sleek lines and smooth engines. Offered with a total of seven engine derivatives, the A5 Cabriolet range adds sex appeal to the Audi family-car lineup. It sits four comfortably, keeps luggage almost like a normal sedan and is powered by the same petrol and diesel engines found in other Audis.

Quick to lose its canvass top, the A5 Cabriolet performs its "top off" stunt in 15 seconds, and "top back on" in 17 seconds through an electric system. The manoeuvres can be done at up to 50km/h (31mph) so no need to park on the side of the road when unexpectedly the heavens shed their tears. A neck-warming function is an option if driver and passenger fancy an open top cruise in cold weather.

As a start, a 1.8 TFSI with 160hp (118kW) provides entry into this segment, followed by a 180hp (132kW), 320Nm option, nicked closely at the heels by a 208hp (155kW) and 350Nm version of the same engine, that hard working 2.0-litre TFSI from the VW Group. At a mid level we see naturally aspirated V6 coming in, 3.0-litre size and making 265hp (195kW) and 330Nm of torque.

For those who love their open-sky driving as much as change in their pocket, Audi is making available two turbo diesels. Both V6 configured, the two are expectedly thriftier than their petrol counterparts. They are listed as a 2.7-litre TDI producing 190hp (140kW) and 400Nm, returning 6.3-litres per 100km, and the 3.0-litre TDI producing 240hp (176kW) and 500Nm of torque.

Top of the range, for now, at least until RS5 Cabriolet bares its teeth, is the S5 Cabriolet. True as predicted it features Audi's new 3.0-litre supercharged V6 with power figures of 333hp (245kW) and 440Nm. Audi says it will run from standstill to 100km/h in 5.6 seconds, yet retain an average fuel consumption figure of 9.6 litres/100km. Three transmissions come with the A5 range; standard 6-speed manual, infinitely-geared Multitronic and seven-speed double-clutch S tronic, depending on the model.

The cars come with an array of interior comforts, like MMI options, Alcantara for the S5, Bluetooth functionality, and Bang & Olufsen sound system or a digital TV tuner if those options are ticked. Deliveries of the Audi A5/ S5 Cabriolet will begin during the second quarter of 2009 at prices starting at €37,300.

BMW Z4

The first photo of a ready-to-sell BMW Z4 has leaked out of an undisclosed dealership. Not meant to be seen by the public until December 15th, the picture shows the final draft of the shiny roadster.

The BMW Z4 will sport an electro-mechanical differential called sDrive, and will likely have an additional engine option in addition to those already available. This new Z4 is thought to have 2.0-, 2.5-, and 3.0-litre engines, as well as a 3.0-litre twin turbo, and a massive 4.0-litre V8 from the M division.

Still uncertain is the auto show which will receive the new Z4 on a pedestal for its adoring public. The appearance of this photo makes us suspect a Detroit appearance may be imminent.

The new BMW Z4 will be produced at the Regensburg plant in Germany. The previous version was produced in Spartanburg.

BMW 7-Series Security

BMW is once again putting its weight behind, over, under and every other way, on protecting its customers. Proof lies in these great spy pictures of a very heavy 7 Series. Made heavy by its bullet proof windows, and wide fail-safe tyresamong other additions, the 7 is a Security unit obviously made for the safety of occupants sitting inside. Not a security feature itself, the flagpole on the front fender indicates the potential buyers of this vehicle, namely prominent politicians.

Engines supplied with the new 7 Series should be able to handle the extra kilos supplied by the protection elements. Especially regarded is the 407hp (300kW) 4.4-litre V8 twin turbo in the 750i/iL models, as well as the 730D delivering 540Nm of torque and a top speed of 246km/h.

The 7 Series Security will join the other Security-badged BMWs such as the 5 Series and X5.

Audi A7 : Sharing Platform with Lamborghini Estoque

More details are emerging on the Lamborghini Estoque four-door set to debut in 2011 or 2012. Lamborghini insists the aggressive sedan is still only under consideration, but company insiders tell us Sant’Agata is already preparing the car for production. The only obstacle is a strategic review of the entire Volkswagen Group's future vehicle portfolio, currently being carried out by Porsche, VW's majority shareholder.

The Estoque will be built on Audi's modular-longitudinal platform, which is the base of a number of new models, including the current Audi A4 and A5, the next-generation A6 and A8, the forthcoming all-new A7, and the 2013 VW Phaeton.

BMW Z4

Reliable sources state that BMW will debut the new Z4 next month in both a roadster and coupe configuration.

The new Z4 Roadster will feature a folding hardtop this time instead of the previous soft one. BMW claims that the use of lightweight materials will help keep the weight off of the Z4.

The Z4 Coupe will come with a stiffer and lowered suspension to continue to give the Coupe version the serious performance credibility that BMW aims for with the model. The Coupe will also have distinguishing design cues to differentiate it from the roadster.

Engines will max out with top performing inline 6 cylinders, as is usual for the Z series, but BMW is also studying a possible M version that may adopt a V8 powerplant from the M3.

Also coming down the pike is the Z2 hybrid. The Z2 will be a compact roadster that will feature the new BMW eDrive technology in development right now with the MINI-E (a full electric vehicle with a 150 kW/204 hp electric motor that churns out 220 Nm of torque).

It seems BMW is serious about continuing to create roadsters and coupes in this segment.

Porsche 911 turbo

Clear differences between the 998 and the current 911 model are a pair of more upright headlights, and the side mirrors are now positioned at the side of the doors and not at the window.

It’s still too early to determine what changes Porsche has in store for the engine lineup, but expect to see the recently revised flat-six engine range carry over with only minimal updates – possibly for emissions and economy standards. The new PDK dual-clutch gearbox will also carry over as will a standard six-speed manual.

The next 911 isn’t expected to arrive in showrooms until late 2011.

Porshe Boxter Speedster

Official Porsche Panamera Image Leaked

Could this be the official, true-life image of the new Porsche Panamera? Yes, according to Dutch publication AutoTelegraaf. A Monday embargo on the images and possibly details has supposedly been broken by Auto Motor und Sport and more details should be available this Sunday night.

Panamera is a four-door coupe from Porsche that is aimed to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz CLS, the upcoming Audi A7 2+2, BMW CS concept-based 2+2 coupe and Aston Martin Rapide. It's a hefty customer this Panamera, measuring 16.3ft (4.97 metres) long, 6.3ft (1.9m) wide and 4.66ft (1.4m) tall. The wheelbase is quantified at 9.6ft (2.9m). Curb mass approaches two tonnes.

As a package it will feature the most advanced and passenger-car focused technologies, such as an electronic air suspension, PDK gearbox, an LSD for good traction, and current interior comforts. The Porsche Panamera is obviously a Porsche, which means no sparing of thought when it comes to engine power.

Initially the two variants available will be an S model and a Turbo, the former kicking out 400bhp (300kW) from its 4.8-litre V8 and the Turbo launching upwards of 500bhp (373kW), thanks to a twin-turbo system running through its gut. V6 petrol power should join the two later, packing around 300bhp (223kW), while hybrid power comes at a later stage. If Porsche terminology is anything to go by we can also expect Turbo S models too worth over 600bhp (447kW). Although diesels have been ruled out, there cannot be 100 percent certainty on the issue; Porsche did once say the Cayenne would not offer diesel as an option. Today it's a different story.

An estimated 20,000 units are planned for sale at the start, with production going on to 50,000 per year depending on demand. Sales of Panamera begin in the US, Europe and Asia in 2009.

Audi A2

The Audi A2 will receive a successor, that was confirmed already by Audi. But today we have some more information and even the first impressions how it might look like. Make sure to read on.

The Audi A2 is expected for 2014 the very latest and it will be aligned with the small city car Audi E1 (first time to mention that name!) and the Mini-killer Audi A1.

The Audi A2 will be released as 5-door 3-liter car with a hybrid (combined with quattro) and maybe even a full-electric engine later on. An Audi A2 Sportback is also being considered with a slightly bigger trunk.

Engine will be taken from the VW up! and the roof line as you can see on the pictures will be raised compared to existing Audi models, very similar to the old Audi A2.

BMW X6M

The 2010 BMW X6M has made its weekly appearance near Spartanburg, but this time, we’re being spoiled with a different exterior color. Palbay was there one more time and he snapped a photo of a beautiful red X6M.

What makes the M more special than the X6 V8 Twin-Turbo? Well, as far as appearance goes the typical M side vents and dual-exhaust on each side.

As we mentioned many times before, some say that the BMW X6M will be powered by a 5.0-liter V10 with 373kW and 520Nm of torque, even though we believe that a twin-turbo engine will be more suitable for the job. The 4.4 V8 Twin-Turbo can be the ideal choice since the car already weighs around 5,000 lbs and placing a heavy V10 engine in it, would not make much sense.

Everything is being kept under the table as of now, so unfortunately no other details are available, including pricing.

BMW Z4

What we learned today is that BMW are delaying Z4 press release due the sDrive trademark registration issues in US market. Our sources confirmed two weeks ago that the launch was scheduled for the first week in November and everyone, including us, got excited.

According to Eny from GCZ (connected with BMW), “the model designations has finally been officially registered this Tuesday (11/11) yet BMW AG are still waiting to obtain official letter (registration certificate) from USPTO, and then press release can be issued.”

So, in the mean time, what can be better than some new spy photos of the BMW Z4.

E 63 AMG Wagon

At the Frankfurt Motor Show we'll be able to see the new Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG in all its full glory, minus all this black plastic you see in our latest spy shots. These cars are not your average mama's trolleys but fully-fledged missiles disguised as baby prams. Spied here is the E 63 AMG in Estate format, meaning Usain Bolt carrying a travel suitcase, but just as quick.

The E 63 AMG shows off its big brakes with cross-drilled discs and a lowered suspension, as well as those four huge round tailpipes. Also a new front bumper with larger air intakes should be a major attraction. That 6.2-litre V8 is expected to keep its place under the hood, producing well over 550 bhp in line with current German power king Audi RS6's 573 horses.

First Image of 1120hp 9ff GT9-R

The folks over at 9ff have a serious addiction to speed. They spent the best part of a year developing the original 987 hp GT9. A monster of a machine that they managed to beat down the track at a death defying 409km/h, a good 2km/h faster than the Bugatti Veyron but just shy of the world production car speed record currently held by SSC Ultimate Aero which stands at 411.71km/h(255.83mph).

Now the German Tuner has released the first image of the GT9 R which boasts a massive power output of 1120 horsepower(835.18kW) and 1050Nm (774.34lb-ft) of toque. No further details have been released yet, but with the Essen Tuning Show coming up at the end of the month, a betting man may have a flutter at more juicy details surfacing around the said time.

Porsche Panamera

German Autobild is reporting that the Porsche Panamera will be initially available in 3 alternatives with 300 bhp (3,6 Liter, V6), 400 bhp (4,8 Liter, V8) and 500 bhp (4,8 Liter, V8-Bi-Turbo). A full-hybrid version with a 30kW electric engine (in combination with the 300 bhp V6 engine) is expected for 2010.

Audi R4

Sports car fans are in for a real treat! Audi is planning a striking new mid-engined machine – the R4. The newcomer will be based on an entirely new platform and sit above the TT in Audi’s range, offering buyers a driver-focused two-seater with a starting price of around £35,000.

It’s the result of a rumoured joint venture with Porsche – so the project will produce a new platform to underpin Coupé and Roadster versions of the R4, and also provide the basis for the next Boxster and Cayman. It’s these core sellers in the Porsche line-up that the R4 will target.

Our exclusive picture shows that the new Audi takes much of its visual inspiration from the R8 supercar, with LED lights, deep air intakes and a sweeping profile. But this similarity is no coincidence. The Porsche joint venture is all part of Audi’s plan to launch a range of R-badged sports cars, which will follow in the wake of the range-topper.

These will include an R6 to rival Jaguar’s new E-Type replacement and the Porsche 911, plus an R10 model based on the V12 TDI R8 diesel concept. Of course, it’s not only Audi which will benefit. Porsche will be able to share Audi’s engines and reduce the costs associated with developing a new platform.

Audi A5 Sportback

From the picture we can see the A5 Sportback will feature a high waistline and low, sloping roof, while the front should remain identical to the current A5 Coupe it is based on.

It is also clear it will have five doors but the sporty, raked, hatchback rear-end will ensure it looks much sleeker than an Avant. The coupe-hatchback will have a more spacious cabin than the standard A5 too which will help the new Audi stand in a niche all of its own.

Next Generation BMW 6 Series Prototype Spied for First Time

BMW’s next-generation 6 Series coupe and convertible, expected to be introduced in 2011, have been spied in early testing. Though heavily camouflaged, the convertible in our photos looks to be longer and lower than the current car, with considerably tighter overhangs front and rear. It’s hard to see the exact lines of course, but the new 6 Series has a smoother, more streamlined look.

The vehicle spotted testing in Germany has a cloth soft top, but closer examination suggests that this may also be part of the camouflage. The wrapped decklid gives the impression that this is a convertible, so the next 6’er just might sport a retractable hardtop, to compete with Mercedes’ SL.

Mercedes E-Class Coupe in Black

Here's another series of spy shots on the coming E-Class. These are of the coupe version, which will be a very important model for Mercedes since they have discontinued the CLK badging and essentially turned the CLK into this E-Class Coupe.

German automakers are very reserved in their styling and prefer the concept of (very gradual) evolution rather than revolution in updating models. This shot reveals that philosophy in action. But the car does appear to have a greater curve along the horizontal length of the body and a more muscular hunch above the rear wheels.

The E-Class Coupe will likely come with, amongst Mercedes standard lineup of engines, Mercedes' latest 204 hp turbodiesel Bluetec, an AMG version with the 550 hp V8, and may also include the BlueHybrid that Mercedes is developing.

The new E-Class sedan will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show next March. Other variants, including this coupe, will likely only be first unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show next September.

More spy photos of the 2010 or 2011 Mercedes coupe have surfaced, showing the CLK replacement's slick lines and updated instrument panel. This red coupe's light camouflage hides only the shape of the new headlamps; the larger, C-Class Sport-style grille and dramatic, CLS-like rear backlight are clearly visible. There appears to be enough rear seat room that the E-Class coupe will still be a true four-passenger coupe.

Inside, the new dash shows a sport three-gauge pod and a revised center stack that's less complex than Mercedes' current setup. There's still a lot going on, but the navigation system's information screen has been moved up to the top of the dash, providing better visibility and a less cluttered appearance.

No longer named CLK, the new generation E-Class coupe, although still based on the C-Class platform, is expected to arrive in 2009 with the C207 designation. The E-Coupe convertible (A207) will follow a year later with a retractable hardtop unlike the current C209's soft top.

Porsche Panamera Interior Spied From Passenger Seat

We've got some excellent spy photos of the Porsche Panamera's interior, courtesy of Teamspeed.com.

The pictures appear to have been shot from the passenger seat, and show that the four-door Porsche's got a very familiar-looking five-pod instrument panel. It also appears to have a 911-style left-hand ignition key. The center console is festooned with buttons, hinting at the high equipment levels that will no doubt be available when the Panamera enters the market against some very worthy competitors from Aston Martin, Mercedes and Maserati. During 2009, expect most Panameras to be high-content, high-profile V8 models, with the less expensive V6 coming along once Porsche's luxury-sport sedan has established itself as a worthy competitor to the Mercedes CLS and Maserati Quattroporte.

Audi A5 Sportback

Audi has instead given us some actual eye candy, providing official design sketches of four upcoming models: the A5 Cabrio and Sportback, the all-new 2010 A7 four-door coupe and the 2011 A8 sedan. While the A5 Cabrio looks pretty much like a topless A5 coupe, the A5 Sportback is unique for not looking at all like a traditional sportback model, instead bearing resemblance to notchbacks of yore. The A7 brings TT-esque styling to the burgeoning four-door coupe market, while the revised A8, at least in sketch form, looks just about tough as hell.

Audi A7

The flowing lines of the coupe-sedan seem to be increasingly appealing in Germany with four of the countries top brands now releasing similar designs. The A7 will be based on the A6 platform and utilise aluminium (with steel reinforcement in key areas) to reduce weight.

Engines begin with a 2.8-litre V6 FSI with optional 3.0-litre V6 on the petrol front with diesel models said to include a 2.7-litre TDI (single turbo) or 3.0-litre TDI (twin turbo).

Meanwhile the range topping RS7 will feature air suspension and a 5.0-litre twin turbo V10 which will be shared by the S7, albeit slightly detuned. A hybrid version is also expected to be made available shortly after initial release.

BMW PAS Crossover

Another round of spy shots of BMW’s Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS) has surfaced, revealing what appear to be production-ready front and rear light treatments under disguise. The car, which is expected to be a five-door fastback sized between the 5-Series and 7-Series that will debut as a 2010 model, has not yet been officially unveiled. It’s expected to be the first of a possible new range of BMW products, the V-Series.

The PAS--or is it the V5?--will sport “coupe-sedan” styling similar to that of the X6, with a more road-going stance. It’s expected to be a four-seater, also in the same vein as the X6, powered by BMW’s 3.0 liter straight-six in gasoline and diesel permutations. A more powerful 4.0 liter diesel V8 may be offered, and BMW has not ruled out the possibility of a hybrid version.

Underneath the camouflage in these photos, the final hood lines can be discerned, and the dramatically sloped rear glass will give this car a unique profile on the road.

BMW Z4 spied

One of the most controversially-designed but immensely satisfying driver’s cars
, the BMW Z4, is almost at its tail’s end. These are the latest spy photos of its replacement, the 2010 version which has been spied a few times before already. The roof looks like a two-piece hard-top convertible which if it makes it into final production, will mark BMW Z’s first foray into tin top territory.

What makes these particular pictures special, apart from the red colour, is how little effort BMW has put into hiding the car from us. Of course 9 out of 10 times they get found out anyway, which is why we still advocate for a ‘less is more’ policy across the board from all manufacturers in future.

Even in this state a few details are still under wraps, like the front and rear lights, the latter though giving clear clues as to the styling direction the Z4 is taking. We can see how the rear bumper convexes toward the concave boot lid. Z4 is expected to show its first public face at Detroit in January 2009, with production commencing a few months later in Germany.

Audi S5 Cabrio

While these photos are grainy, our spies still got a great look at the 2010 Audi S5 convertible during a sunrise photo shoot. In what appears to be Audi's Ibis White exterior finish, this brochure-ready, convertible two door will pack all the same mechanicals as the current S5 coupe. Though we aren't sure if the convertible will carry the coupe's 354-hp rating.

If you like what you see, you may want to drop everything and place a deposit at your local dealer. With the S5 and A5 coupes already in short supply and high demand, the convertible versions of these coupes may be even harder to come by. The S5 cabrio should go into production in Ingolstadt sometime in the latter half of 2009. Look for the official debut at either the L.A. or Detroit auto show

BMW X4

The BMW X4 will be a smaller version of the BMW’s Sports Activity Coupe, the X6. Today, our friend Palbay confirms one of the speculations: the X4 will be using most of the new second generation BMW X3 components, in a move to reduce costs. This also goes hand in hand with their latest trend of releasing smaller size cars, powered by fuel efficient technologies.

The projected launch date is set at the beginning of 2010 and the X4 will be released in an all wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive models. As mentioned before, the BMW X4 will join the X models production at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina.

Audi TT- RS

The TT RS will naturally use quattro all-wheel drive to keep all that grunt in check. Audi will use a single turbo – not the twin-turbo set-up that other media have speculated upon.

That 2.5-litre five-pot comes from a far-flung corner of the VW empire: the North American Jetta. And if a five-cylinder, turbocharged, 4wd Audi sports coupe rings any bells (Ur Quattro, anyone?) that's deliberate. Expect many connections to be made in the marketing material.

With the latest version of Audi’s S tronic twin-clutch box, the RS is said to hit 60mph in around five seconds – putting it firmly in supercar territory.

VW's new 2-seat sports car

The modular chassis is said to use clever new kinematics in the new strut-based suspension system that does away with the need for pricey, Golf-style multi-link axles . Money pinching is crucial here, but not at the expense of delivering a fun-to-drive, pointy sports car.

To this end, R&D boss Ulrich Hackenberg has disclosed to CAR that the new affordable sports car will use parts-bin steering, brakes, electronics and DSG twin-clutch transmissions. Bearing in mind some of the expertise out there on Planet VW, that’s no bad thing…

You bet. CAR Online has already revealed the new sub-Boxster Porsche sports car and Ingolstadt is developing its own budget mid-engined sportster in the shape of the Audi R3.

At the Los Angeles auto show in November, Volkswagen will unwrap a new mid-engine sports car concept. This marks the third iteration of a theme that started in 2003 with the Concept R and continued in 2005 with the EcoRacer.

The proposal we'll see in L.A. pursues three different strategic goals:

* For Volkswagen, it provides an attractive product in a niche that has long been defined by the Mazda Miata.
* For Audi, it offers the opportunity to switch the next-generation TT from the current FWD/AWD platform to a much more prestigious and more dynamically rewarding mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.
* For Porsche (which recently cleared another legal hurdle in its quest to take control of VW), there's a chance to join the fray with a modern successor to the rear-engine 356.

Posche Panamera : Coming with Diesel ?

At launch, the rear-wheel-drive Panamera will come with a 300-hp 3.6L V6 from V-Dub. A 400-hp 4.8L V8 will also be available along with a turbocharged 500-hp version. Porsche has already confirmed a hybrid Panamera for 2010 that will reduce fuel-consumption by 30 percent.

According to Automotive News, the Stuttgart based automaker is now considering a diesel version along with a targa top version for the Panamera as well.

Audi S5 : Spy Shots

We found an interesting source saying that the next-generation Audi S5 which is expected for early next year will receive the new 3.0 TFSI engine, also used in the new Audi S4 and leaving the V8 for the Audi RS5. Anyway the picture looks more like the Audi RS5 to us.

Looks have received subtle revisions over the current car, but we know that under its bonnet the new S5 gets Audi’s new supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine in place of the current model’s 4.2-litre V8.

The new motor made its debut in the recently-revealed S4, and although its 329bhp is slightly down on old V8’s 339bhp, it has more mid-range torque and a broader powerband.

The revised S5 will also benefit from the option of a seven-speed twin-clutch DSG transmission and the latest iteration of Audi’s Quattro four-wheel drive system, which uses a torque vectoring active rear differential to assist cornering.

BMW X2

The bimmer fans were greeted today with a new rumor or apparently a confirmation of a new BMW model being launched in the near future. The vehicle in question is the BMW X2 that has been rumored for some time now. We reported back in July, that the BMW X2 might make its way into the BMW line up as soon as 2011.

The initial news and renderings were brought to us by the fellow at LeftLaneNews and today Carmagazine UK came back with more news, but the same rendering.

The BMW X2, codenamed SAR, short for Sports Activity Runabout(yeah, I know, always wonder how they come up with these names), is portrayed as X6’s little brother, a baby BMW, as Carmagazine calls it.

The X2 will be a two-door model with coupe like lines, sharing the same engines as the BMW X1 and most likely similar technologies, one of them being the xDrive.

The conflicting part comes from the fact that Carmagazine UK states the BMW X2 is still on the drawing board and it has not been given a green light, but in the same time, we are being shown a test mule spotted in Munich.

BMW X3 Prototype

In a three way match-up, we have the Mercedes GLK in one corner, the Audi Q5 in another and the BMW X3 in the final corner.
Two of these models are new, fresh and healthy where as the third is old and frail and should be ready for a pounding. That is why BMW are putting their foot to the metal on the development of their all-new X3 to stave off the threat of its two main rivals.

We have seen this latest prototype before, that annoying black and white camoflage is hardly forgettable, however a close inspection reveals a few details on the model have developed since we last saw it. The prototype now sports what appears to be full production style headlight and taillights as opposed to the temporary ones we had seen previously. We can also see the front bumper shows its full shape and the grille has extra covering placed over it leading us to believe the full styling is hiding beneath.

The next generation BMW X3 will be slightly longer than the current model allowing a little extra space in the interior as well as a larger market space for the smaller X1.

Audi R8 GT3

The Audi R8 conforms to the production-based GT3 regulations allowing the car to be fielded in numerous national and international race series.

Because the GT3 regulations prohibit the use of four-wheel drive the Audi R8 comes with the typical GT rear-wheel drive. The power is transmitted via a newly developed six-speed sequential sports gearbox. The suspension uses almost exclusively components from the production line. A comprehensive list of safety equipment guarantees the highest-level of passive safety. A modified front end and a large rear-wing generate the required downforce for the race track.

Audi A7 : revealed

Just as the A5 uses the A4 platform, so the A7 will be based on the new A6. But the next-gen A6, which means a lightweight aluminium platform with various steel reinforcements.

Air suspension will be standard on high-end models, and unless sales don’t surpass the expected 40,000 units, four-cylinder power won’t happen. Instead buyers will be offered a based 2.8-litre V6 FSI or the new supercharged 3.0-litre V6. Oil-burning owners will pick between a 2.7-litre, and a 3.0-litre V6 with either one or two turbos. Then if you can make sense of it all, there will be various six and seven-speed manuals, autos and dual-clutch S-tronic boxes.

Audi will slot, no make that shoehorn, its 5.0-litre twin-turbo V10 into the A7 to create an RS7, while the S7 will use a detuned version. Never fear though, because a hybrid version will be on hand to balance your polluting ways.

Spyker will once again grace the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with its presence making it the eighth consecutive appearance at the show, since it's rebirth in 2000. This year the specialist marque will bring the Spyker C8 Aileron, an all aluminium concept that previews the second generation C-line sports car.

The long wheel base model is making its first appearance on US soil, under the hood is a powerful 4.2 litre V8 producing 400 BHP position in the middle of the car giving the model superb weight distribution. The C8 Aileron is set to go into full production by the end of the year.

Monterey 2008: Pininfarina Hyperion

The one-off Pininfarina Hyperion made its debut tonight at the Gooding & Company auction tent, and we were on hand to see the cover come off this highly anticipated coach-built convertible. Their was a somewhat somber mood among the Pininfarina team, who dedicated the car to the car to the late Andrea Pininfarina, but their spirits were lifted as the Hyperion received an excellent reaction from the crowd on hand as it was unveiled.

The car looks truly stunning in person, and we prefer the styling of the Hyperion over the standard Drophead Coupe. The hood is incredibly long, due in part to the extra 400mm created by moving the windscreen back, and we especially loved the unique headlights. We haven't seen any photos of the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series except for the press photos and a few wallpapers we scrounged up. As far was we know, no one has actually seen the car in person outside of Mercedes-Benz, let alone photographed it. So imagine our surprise when we spotted one headed our direction while trying to crash the Ferrari-owners-invited-only North American debut of the Ferrari California in Monterey. We instantly forgot about trying to catch a glimpse of the Ferrari and turned our lenses towards the Black Series.

2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR

So what makes the new ACR so special? Even the slightest glance will tell you this is no ordinary Viper. This particular car came in Viper Black with the unique two-tone paint scheme. The ACR can also be ordered in Viper Red, Viper Violet, Viper Bright Blue Metallic and Viper Very Orange, with only the Black and Red having the option of the two-tone paint. I haven't seen the ACR in anything but Red or Black, and can't imagine ordering it any color combo besides the one seen here.

But enough about paint schemes; the ACR is about one thing and one thing only: functionality. More specifically, putting down all that power from the 8.4-liter V10 to the pavement. To do this, the SRT team focused on aerodynamics, the result of which can be seen at both ends of the car. Up front is a carbon fiber splitter and dive planes that have been specially designed to increase downforce and reduce drag. An extension for the front splitter can also be added for increased aerodynamics at the racetrack. At the rear is an adjustable wing also made of carbon fiber that was specially formed using Computational Fluid Dynamics. So just how much downforce does the ACR produce? Try 1,000 pounds at 150 mph. That's ten times what the standard Viper coupe produces.

Additional traction is provided by massive Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires (295/35ZR/18 front, 345/30ZR/19 rear) that are just barely approved for street use. The ACR also benefits from a track-tuned suspension consisting of KW adjustable coilovers and a stiffer front stabilizer bar. The coilovers can be adjusted without removing the wheels, which means that making the switch between street and track settings is an easy task.

Toyota : Supra is DOA, FJ Cruiser won't be refreshed, more hybrids on the way

A report by Automotive News detailing Toyota's future products reveals that the automaker's focus will be realigned to meet new fuel efficiency standards and limiting high-powered and niche offerings.

On the hybrid side, the new Prius will debut in Detroit, with sales beginning in the spring of 2009 as a 2010 model. The nickel-metal hydride battery will remain, and because of that, the plug-in model will be delayed until a lithium ion battery is offered. The new Prius will be packing the Corolla's 1.8-liter four cylinder and the car will be an inch wider and a half-inch longer. The second hybrid model might not come to Detroit, but development is currently under way and sales will be limited to Japan.

The Supra revival has been shelved due to high mpg requirements, allowing Toyota to focus on its RWD coupe, jointly developed by Subaru. Also, there's only room for one body-on-frame SUV from the automaker, so the 4Runner will be re-engineered for the 2010 model year, will debut in either New York or Chicago, and the FJ Cruiser will complete its lifecycle and be dropped in the next few years.

The Sienna and Venza will be equipped with hybrid drivetrains in 2012, with the Sienna receiving a facelift late next year, along with more cargo space and room for third-row occupants.

The report goes on to state that the Corolla will be redesigned in 2013, along with the Matrix, the next Camry will receive a facelift in 2010, with the new model debuting in 2012, and the new Avalon will debut in 2011 as a 2012 model.

Audi S5 Cabrio

According to previous reports we are likely to see the Audi A5/S5 Cabrio hit the autoshow circus in January in Detroit, to aid us in our anticipation of the model we now bring you the latest rendering/photoshop of the top-spec S5 model.

So far only one photo has surfaced of a prototype being tested on the streets, it was extremely blurry but did at least reveal a very important detail about the roof. Audi have resisted the temptation to go for the more stylish hard-top, they will instead stick with a electric folding soft-top which will delight the more performance demanding consumers due to its lighter weight.

The S5 will retain the 349hp 4.2-liter V8 engine from the Coupe whilst the regular A5 will also inherit its sibling's engine line up as well. Additionally the Cabrio is also expected to offer its all-new supercharged 290hp 3.0-liter TFSI engine which debuted in the facelifted A6.

Buggati Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport

We recently learned that the pop-top Bug will make its public debut at the Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance in a couple of weeks. What we didn't know was that Gooding & Company will be auctioning the first order slot on August 17th, right after the best-in-show trophies are handed out at Pebble Beach.

Even with its top speed limited to just 217, this will be one of the fastest open top cars around. We'll get you more details as they become available, but for now, get thee to Pebble if this is the the car you've been waiting for. And bring more than $2,250,000, the expected starting price. Bugatti is planning to build just 80 of these Grand Sports.

Porsche 9FF GT9

The Porsche GT9 by 9ff looks fast, let's see if it can be faster than a Bugatti Veyron.

The front end is borrowed from a 911 GT3, although the rest of the chassis is unique, and has been constructed using strong yet lightweight carbon and kevlar fibre. With its low roof, the car is only 1.18 metres tall, while an extreme bodykit practically scrapes the road surface. Both features are crucial to help achieve the 254mph top speed – 1mph higher than a Veyron!

Under the bonnet, the GT9’s engine is sourced from the 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo. Reworked turbos, dry sump lubrication and a gold-finished induction plate boost power to 973bhp and torque to 964Nm. And as the car weighs only 1,326kg, it should cover 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds.

Potential buyers need to be just as quick to get their hands on a GT9, though – only 20 examples will be made, each with a price tag of £394,000.

BMW 7 Series Revealed

The euphoria currently surrounding the fifth generation new 2009 BMW 7 Series will go unchecked for a while to come, at least until the car is launched. In the UK this will be 15th November 2008. Still a while off, but if you cannot wait, read on.

7 Series as the epitome of BMW excellence, is meant to be the height of dynamic driving tool mashed with comfort levels associated with this competitive segment, as well as environment-friendly propositions. With all this in mind, BMW has created the 730D, which with its new engine, aims to overthrow any and every other rival of this level. The 3.0-litre turbo diesel has shed 5kg compared to its predecessor, thanks to all-aluminium construction. Yet it produces class-leading figures of 245 hp/180kW and 540Nm of torque, spread from 1,750 rpm to 3,000rpm. The 730D spits 192 g/km of CO2 , sprints to 62mph from naught in 7.2 seconds and tops off at 153 mph.

More stunning are figures delivered by the 740i/L and 750i/L. The former misleadingly uses the multi-award-winning 3.0-litre straight six engine (mated to a standard 6-speed automatic gearbox) famous for its two turbos to crank out 326 hp/ 240kW and a stump-pulling 450Nm. For the current range-topper (we are still a while away from 760i and at least a year and half away from the M7) the 750i/L, down was the way to go, from 4.8 to 4.4-litre V8. But this time again, two turbos assist in conjuring 407hp/ 300kW and a boat-hauling 600Nm in torque. Unlike the previous car with its gear stalk located behind the steering wheel, the use of X5/ X6/ 5 Series centrally-located gearlever ensures driver will be able to change gears too in semi-auto mode.

To help harness all this potency is Drive Dynamic Control, a system that lets the driver customize his/ her preferred suspension and other settings relating to driving style and comfort levels. A host of other technological marvels will accompany each new 7 Series, depending on options taken. For instance, the lane departure will be available as well as Integral Active Steering which allows the rear wheels to turn by up to 3 degrees for optimum parking ability and other advantages. iDrive has been simplified even further than what we saw in the facelift version of the car and features a ‘return’ function to take you back one step if you wish. Graphically it is advanced as well, and offers 3D visualisation. Just as one or four others in the market today, the 7 Series offers an internal 8G hard drive that can store up to 100 CDs – I guess depending on whether you have Jim Reeves or speeches by Margaret Thatcher in them – and can be accessed easily through iDrive.

2010 BMW 5 Series Rendered

Several spy shots are all over the internet, depicting the next BMW 5 Series which is due for unveiling in 2010 and goes on sale in most world markets in 2011.

Several existing technologies will feature in the 5 Series, including further improved iDrive, FlexRay processing, the electro-magnetic handbrake, HUD, as well as Active Steering. Bigger, wider and longer than current 5, new car grows in size but not by much. BMW’s new double-clutch M-DCT gearbox with 7 speeds is part of the package. Currently the ‘box can handle close to 600Nm in torque.

Key engines will be the 3.0-litre twin turbo petrol, 2.0-litre twin turbo diesel, the hybrid and the 4.4-litre twin turbo V8. Three brand new engines will also feature, introducing themselves through the 5 and include a new compact super diesel making well over 700Nm. Later in 2013 the mighty M5 should be seen boasting over 450kW under the hood. What is unclear at this point is if that power will come force-fed or by natural means. BMW spokespersons have said the company does not rule out turbocharged M cars, "as long as they keep to the traditions of what an M car stands for". Be assured though that whatever it is, it does not yet exist and will debut as a brand new engine.

BMW PAS

Spy photographers have stumbled across the new 5-series-based BMW Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS), also known as V-Series or RFK, in the American desert and showing frameless doors for the first time.

In its early stages of development BMW's PAS was falsely pegged as Munich’s answer to the Mercedes R class, much in the same way the X6 was falsely pegged as a Mercedes CLS competitor. But now, these spy-shots of the PAS clearly show it’s a true fastback, allowing more headroom than in the X6 while being significantly smaller than the Mercedes R-Class. This car-like approach seen on this prototype seems better-suited to BMW’s values than a full-size van, and although these spy-photos do not reveal all of the car’s design, enthusiasts might be a bit disappointed by the car’s rational coupe like design.

The V-Series, PAS, RFK or whatever you want to call it, is expected to debut in September 2009 at IAA in Frankfurt.

BMW Concept CS will go in production

BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer has announced that BMW will be producing a four-door Gran Turismo car based off of the CS Concept that debuted in Shanghai this year.

Here is an outlook until 2012:

We would like to confirm the announcement of the BMW X1. This model is going to complement the successful X family, together with the BMW Concept X6 presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Furthermore, we decided to manufacture a four-dour Gran Turismo based on the CS concept study showcased in Shanghai.
Another result of our strategy is that we will not build a space-functional concept. It will be replaced by a fundamentally altered concept. What I am talking about here is a new segment. We currently call the concept Progressive Activity Sedan or PAS in short. Expect this concept to introduce its own interpretation of the sedan and to surprise you with intelligent features.
As far as Rolls-Royce is concerned, we would like to confirm our plans for the third variant of the Phantom: a coupe. Moreover, we reevaluated and confirmed an additional Rolls-Royce model during our strategic review. It will slot in below the Rolls-Royce Phantom in terms of both size and price.
At MINI, we opted for a further model in the sports activity vehicle segment.
We will continue to extend the range of products under our BMW Motorrad and Husqvarna Motorcycles brands in the years ahead.

Further product decisions beyond the planning horizon until 2012 have been taken. Nevertheless, we cannot provide any details at this point.

Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 and the Cayman S Sport Revealed

Available in dealerships in early September, both Cayman and Boxster special editions finally break the 300 bhp mark with the 3.4-liter flat six producing 8 bhp more for a total of 303 bhp (223 kW) via a new sports exhaust.

The Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 is available in Carrara White, 19-inch SportDesign wheels, side air intakes, the centre console and the dials on the three round instruments are also finished in white plus grey stripes extending lengthwise along the body.

Also included is the Porsche Design Edition 2 Chronograph men’s wristwatch from the Dashboard Collection features a white face and was developed especially for this very special Boxster.

The Cayman S Sport will only see 700 units made, as distinguished by the number plaque on the glove box.

The Cayman S Sport gets PSM, 10mm lowered suspension, plus alcantara in the interior, Sports Chrono package and of course the RS style graphics.

2009 BMW M3 Sedan

BMW has announced 2009 model year updates for the BMW M3 sedan. Coinciding with the recently revealed 3-Series sedan facelift, the M3 will follow suit with matching LED rear lamp clusters plus modifications to the bumper and rear lid.

The interior receives new air vents located in the centre of the cockpit, a newly designed storage area under the armrest on the centre console, pearlescent chrome light switch cluster, new start/stop ignition button and rotary controls for the air conditioning.

Starting in the autumn, all M3 variants will be equipped with crash-active headrests that reduce the risk of cervical injury in the event of a rear end collision. Also, more choices of exterior colours will be available including grey metallic for the M3 sedan and all new Le Mans blue metallic (pictured above) for the whole range.

BMW X1

Slotting above the MINI Crossman and below the X3, the X1will not be an SUV, but instead more of a crossover with lower ground clearance.

The X1 will serve as a cheaper entry point into the brand as well as a new X model in a new market segment.

Well suited to the American market, this particular prototype has an automatic transmission.

We expect to see the X1 debut in Frankfurt 2009 and arriving in showrooms in 2010. To be built in BMWs Leipzig plant in Germany, the X1 is based on the 1 Series E87 platform and is expected to come in at around €32,000 in Germany.

Mercedes SLR 722

Spy video of the SLR Speedster, exploded onto the web last week, giving a first view of the special edition SLR 722 model in action. Now photographers have caught it on and around the Nürburgring circuit in Germany giving us a closer look at the body.

As a modern day interpretation of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Sir Stirling Moss drove to victory in the demanding Mille Miglia race, the special edition SLR 722 model with its roofless design and low rising windscreen is expected to make its official debut any day now.

Only 75 units will be produced, and as a result of its lack of roof, loses about 440 pounds off the SLR's kerb weight making it the fastest top-speed of any SLR at 217mph. 0-186mph in 26 seconds.

Porsche 998 Test Mule

The 997 facelift was officially unveiled early last month, and now, spy photographers have caught the next generation platform, speculated as type 998.

At first glance, the prototype seen in these photos, wears the body of the current 997 generation, but closer inspection shows a roll cage, fender extensions, which indicate a wider wheel base, and imprecisely fitting exhaust pipes. The next generation 911 is expected to hit in 2011.

Porsche Panamera news

Porsche boss Wendelin Wiedeking recently announced it in an interview with the German motoring magazine Auto, Motor & Sport, and here is the proof:
Porsche’s new four-door coupé – Panamera, which has begun its testing marathon at the challenging Nürburgring.

Scheduled for an official presentation at the 2009 Geneva show, the fourth range from Porsche is developed to be a strong competitor to the Mercedes CLS and the future Aston Martin Rapide.

Though the Panamera takes over design elements from the 911 range, there will be significant differences too. While the first has always kept its rear-mounted boxer engine, the newcomer will do with a choice of three front-mounted motors, though set back to the centre of the car as much as possible.

The entry-level unit will be Volkswagen’s 3.5-litre six-cylinder unit developing 300 bhp, while Porsche’s own drivetrain will be a direct-injection eight-cylinder petrol engine, available in naturally-aspirated guise (350 bhp) and with twin-turbo (560 bhp). That should be enough to beat out the competition for a while: Mercedes’ CLS 63 AMG comes up with “only” 514 bhp. However, should Stuttgart make the CLS even stronger, Zuffenhausen would strike back with the Porsche GT’s 700-bhp ten-cylinder unit ...

The target for the Panamera is to be a true sportscar while at the same time it shall be a family-car for every-day use with four full seats, easy access to the rear and a luggage compartment of around 450 litres.

When it hits the road in 2009, Porsche hopes to be able to sell 20 000 units annually – and to jump over the barrier of 100 000 sold cars per year.

Second Generation Porsche Cayenne

When this second gen prototype first hit the streets near Stuttgart, it was speculated that it was the new “baby” Cayenne. However, closer inspection puts this prototype at the same size as the current Cayenne.

Despite decreasing popularity for SUVs, Porsche plans to adapt the Cayenne by offering diesel and hybrid versions. With an accelerated launch schedule, pushed through by Porsche boss Wendelin Wiedeking, Porsche hopes to launch the new Cayenne by the first half of 2010, eclipsing the next generation VW Touareg which is expected to debut in late 2010 at the earliest.

Mercedes SLC Spied

This is the very first pictures of the so-called SLC Gullwing revival prototype actually showing its 'gullwing' doors coming from worldfancars :

Its existence rumored since the first prototype images surfaced in the American dessert over a year ago, the project, which is being developed by AMG partner in Deutsche Tourenwagon Masters (DTM) championship, HWA Racing, pays homage to the legendary 300 SL Gullwing from the fifties.

According to Car Magazine, the Gullwing will be aimed primarily at the Porsche 911 Turbo with a target price of roughly €150,000 – both a coupe (codenamed C197) and a roadster (codenamed R197) will be produced and it will be slightly smaller than the outgoing SLR.

Power will come from AMG's 6.2-litre V8 producing 550bhp and 445lb ft of torque, allowing the Gullwing to achieve 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds, maximum speed stands at 185mph.

The coupe is likely to make its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with the roadster set to arrive a year later, there are only 6000 units of each model planned and is currently penciled in to cease production in 2013 :
